Thanks all.

I suspected that an electric coolbox might not be brilliant in very hot weather in a tent, but space and budget means that we can't go for anything bigger and better.

If we don't get an electric coolbox we will only be using an ordinary one with ice packs so it has to better than that and I suppose we could supplement it with ice packs if it gets very hot.

The other option is to hire a fridge from the campsite (logis de breuil again we hope)but it just seemed extravagant when for about the same price we could by the coolbox which we could use again and again.

We have a Campinggaz electric box that goes to 25 below ambient and it has been fantastic all over summer. Beers are colder than from my Beer fridge. Had to turn it off every two days to get the ice off.

Have an electric cool box from Aldi which gets really cold at night, but having said that we haven't had a good summer though.  Great for keeping drinks cool. Wouldn't really recommend for anything else.

Kept our food in ours all summer and never lost anything and Easter was very, very hot. Have had an electric coolbox for years since they first come out and never had any problems with them.

can someone tell me if we use a cool box in our car when we unplug it how long on average will the stuff stay cool im talking about mostly drinks and sandwiches and chocolate.... we didnt have 1 this year and i bought loads of chocolate back from belguim and france but it all melted

   we have a halfords ok for drinks an butter bacon chocky etc, stays cool for ages when switched off no probs.

As has been said, they only cool to 20 degrees below ambient. So I wouldn't trust them perisbles either. It was the milk kept overnight in a Peltier coolbox that did for the Brave Captain - He thought that the world had dropped out of *** ******

Used ours in France this year. Over 35 degrees. It struggled, but it kept everything cool.

Keep it outside the tent in the day under a bit of shade. We used it for food. Used a bucket of cold water for drinks - it worked very well.
