Can anyone recommend a good fridge/coolbox for a large family to use when camping? 2 adults and 4 kids so we get through a lot of food (and wine!)

Space isn't too much of an issue and we camp with EHU.
I had considered getting a small domestic table top fridge or even one of those beer/wine fridges as they appear to be a similar price to some 3-way fridges.

Any advice, comments or ideas would be much appreicated.

Many Thanks
Helen xx

Well we used to use a waeco combicool fridge, that was quite good but in very hot weather it let us down. I talking about +30C in the tent in summer. So we did some research and bought a waeco coolfreeze 25. It outperforms the 3way by miles but it also cost a lot more. I would recomend a compressor fridge/freezer to anyone. The work from +10C down to -18C. They come in all sizes to suite everyones needs.

Look  here for more info but shop around for better prices

This company are VERY cheap CLICK ME

Remember you get what you pay for, these cool/freezers are up there with the very best..

We have a Waeco Combicool CAS-60 - used it for 3 weeks in France this year and kept loads of stuff nice n frosty! You can get them for around £180 I think. They are silent and run on gas, 12V and 240V so you can keep everything cold in the car on the journey there & back.

Hi, we have a table top fridge with a ice box, It's not heavy and if you have EHU no problem to power, The beer fridges are ok but dont have a icebox which can be useful.

Hi,

If you can get hold of one I would go for an Igloo Koolmate 40, they are excellent, not like some cheap cool boxes, they keep everything ice cold.

We have a waeco combicool 40 litre 3 way fridge which we bought summer 2006 to use in the conway trailer tent but we have now bought a folding camper. We paid £160. It is for sale at £120 ovno (plus postage)if you are interested. Have receipts etc, used only once on holiday and once at home over Xmas - great for all the extras that would not fit in the fridge!!
