With tv regions going digital between now and 2010, I have been thinking about upgrading my little colour tv to an LCD tv with freeview.

I have seen some on e-bay that are LCD tv + freeview + dvd + games set, I did contact someone who'd bought one to ask whether it was any good - they were only concerned about the extra duty they had to pay (which was not stated until they had to pay for it) as it was imported but apart from that was OK.

Has anyone here got one of these all in one set ups? Or can anyone recommmend one - I noticed ASDA had a LCD with DVD but I don't thinkl it came with freeview (which is what I really want) and it has to run on 12v as I don't use EHU.

got a currys one,. retail about 150 no dvd 7" works well, but you need a good signal to use the freeview, we have a booster we run off ehu in poor areas, it has its own internal rechargeable battery, runs off 12v or 240v and came with all nessecary leads, aerial bits and bobs and a carrying pouch.

Now then Scratcher most of the Lcd tv's run off 12 volts they have a mains dropper in the lead so you could wire it up direct to your battery but a better idear would be to use an inverter which would take a 12 volt supply from your Nannybus then invertes it to 240 volts

My sis bought one from Tesco's for £149. Built in freeview and works on the ordinary mushroom type caravan arial. she has a separate dvd player so didn't need a combo set up.

so - you can buy an ordinary 240v tv and get a gismo that will take it down to 12v?

no you can buy a gismo that you connect to your 12volt system and it gives out 240 volts it is called an Inverter

but if you buy a lcd tv most of them run off  12 volts but you need heavy duty cable to get enought wattage to the TV

RR, why do you need to use heavy duty cable?

Phil.
