thinking of doing a few trips abroad on the scooter next year, will be camping at rallys in france holland and belgium and although i've been over on the scooter for rallys before i've never taken my cooking stuff and i can't remember whether or not i'll be allowed to take my little coleman gas cartridges on the ferry or if  i'll have to buy some over there.......

i'd hate to cause a major security alert or anything.........

Yes you can take them.

Last time we were in France I bought a load of Campingaz cartridges for my lamp in Mammouth as they were a lot cheaper than over here, and brought them back.

Caz
If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.

I will second that Caz, use them all the time going to France, including the tunnel.

Steve.

Just a minute people, I don't want to put a boo boo on your thoughts but the tunnel is very strict indeed having used it many times before unlike the ferry's.

If I were you Maver I'd email or call for info first before departure as I'm sure your only clear with Campingaz providing you don't get stopped, which is around one in seven cars. If in doubt I use petrol stoves for all my oversea's trips, and in your case you simply dip your bike

Get out there!

Below e-mail reply from tunnel about carrying gas

Thank you for your email.

Gas for cooking purposes may be carried as long as the bottle is no larger than 50kg, max. cylinder size 47kg.

We regret that vehicles fitted with an LPG or CNG tank cannot be accepted for transport by Eurotunnel. Campervans and other recreational vehicles which have LPG containers (as opposed to gas bottles) to power domestic services e.g. heating and refrigeration are accepted on the condition that the tanks are no more than 80% full and will be subject to inspection.
Regards

Sales Support Team

Hope this helps, this was recieved 28/10/07 so is pretty much up to date.
