A friend of my wife is buying me an inflatable sleeping mat for Christmas and I was hoping to give her some guidence. i has to be leightweight enough as I'm planning my first 2 dayer for next year, but also I can't expect her to be playing too much.
Try Alpkit - wee airic at 460g and slim airic at 680g are what you want if you need to carry it any distance. They' get top reccomendations for quality and customer service.

Thermarest are the market leaders in inflatable mats, they are also probably the most expensive.
I have used other brands (not aric which seem very popular) and though they were not cheap they still did not last the course.
My thermarest is still going strong even after a repair which thermarest did for £10.
I'd say Thermorest as well. Get the Thermorest chair kit. It's a nice thing to have with you at the end of a long day. If all these others cut the mustard then the expedition people would use them - they don't!
I believe that the Vaude mats are also made in the same factory
Id say Thermarest as well but their quality comes at a price. In terms of value for money I think the the Airics made by Alpkit are great. I have a Thermarest, a Robens and a Fat Airic. In terms of comfort I cant see much difference between all three but the Airic was the cheapest followed by the Robens and then the Thermarest. The Alpkit service is also second to none so I would certainly have a look at their range first.
