there is one simple rule (the bigger the dish the easier to find the signal) it took me 2 years and various sat finders to find this out!! the small camping ones just dont work!! you need at least a 60 cm dish to make life simple anything smaller and I wouldnt bother,, hope this helps..

Sorry to disagree gary but I always thought that the bigger the dish the harder it was to find the satellite

Its been my experience using different sizes that ita easier with a smaller dish

Have a look here on Dave Sullivans excellent website

He explains that a smaller dish is more tolerant when finding the satellite but the passage with the info is subject to copywrite so I can't print it here

http://www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk/

look under which dish should I go for on the RHS

Hi wizard and compliments of the season

My friend came round with his big dish having on a previous trip bought a new LNB as he couldn't find the satellite

I set up my identical dish beforehand and then we set his up in the same position

here and it worked with his old and new LNBs

It was just so awkward to find the satellite

The face of the dish was about one inch further forward at the top or an inch over the vertical and just didn't look right---but it was

Bigger dish - better signal but harder to find.

Small dish - lesser signal but easier to find.

It won't make a lot of difference if you are only going to use it in the UK, any small dish will suffice and should be fairly easy to set up.

(Just think about the size of a sky minidish)

If you are going abroad though, and can't live without your english telly you will need a dish of up to 1 metre for some parts of Spain and Portugal.

i find it annoying that sky "announce" all those channels are available only by freeview (implying they are sky channels) in fact only channel 4 and five are not freely seen in the clear by any satellite box so £20 for 2 channels a rip off indeed

the bigger the dish the more you get and the less sparklies in bad conditions ,stick a motor on it and its limitless
