we have one, absolutely brilliant.loads of room even with all 4 bedrooms in.storage pockets are really useful.we got an outwell universal side canopy to go with it to keep the rain off when you open up in the mornings! not a perfect fit due to the slope of the tent roof but it does the job.

they arnt very good, bought one last march to replace our Vango, wanted more space, and it was a bargain from Go Outdoors. The first time we put it up two poles broke, we had them replaced. Then small things kept falling off, the toggles that tie the inner tents broke the rings that hold the guide ropes broke, we only had it up for 9 days, so we returned it for a full refund. We have got another Vango. Vango do one the same shape and size but the quality is much better with straps inside etc.

we thought our poles were a bit short at first and liable to snap but have been ok.if you insert and pin the poles with the tent on the floor flat then stand it up,opening out and pegging as tou go everything should be ok[copy the khyam video on their website, its the same tent!].the only damage we have suffered is a burst zip when somebody tried opening it without using the toggle.we got a small hole in it somehow but that was patched, and a rabbit chewed through one of the guy ropes[one of our own in the garden!].hope this does not put you off.

I don't mean to be disrespectful but that sounds to me like clumsy handling of the tent, having so many things break.  I have had my Alaska for two years with no faults developing.

Is the better quality Vango tent a similar price to the Gelert?

We also have one, and have to say no problems as yet with anything falling off, and as lynles says if you erect it flat on the ground all is fine. Loads of space.

We use it as our "long weekend" tent, as the Khyam takes bloody ages to put up, and is used for the longer times away...

Hi, the retailer had the tent back and they said it was a manufacturing fault, hence the full refund. We also used the Khyam video. The new Vangos come with an instructional dvd.
