What is the best sleeping bag for my daughter who will be 1 in May? We are planning to camp again in the summer months and I'm not sure what will be best.
I would be concerned about such a small child falling wriggling down insde a sleeping bag ,have you thought about one of theose baby grow bag thingies and blankets ?
Got to agree with Lynn and Ray here, the nightstar is a great bag, We use it with our daughter who was 15 months when she started camping and she's now 20 months - Its really warm and she sleeps soundly in it all night. Hopefully we'll get another year out of it before she has to get the bigger one though!!
buy the biggerone in the first place then just fold and secure the bottom of it soshes cant wriggle down, you could either tie the end up with a thread or something similar but be able to move it as and when required
If your child is big for her age I would go for a Vango Junior/Midi (they change the name every so often) or similar good quality child's sleeping bag, then tie the excess off below her feet with a strip of fabric. A wide strip of fabric is better than a cord as it won't damage the bag.
Hi, definitely have to agree with Valk_scot. If your daughter is quite big for her age then you might only get one year's use from the bag (guess it depends how many times you plan to use the bag within that year!). We bought our (just turned) two year old son the Nitestar baby given that the measurements on the website were a metre in length. When we put the little guy in it (or tried) we knew we should have gone with our gut instinct and got a Nitestar Midi/Junior as we had done for our other two girls (four and six). I suppose in hindsight it does exactly what it says on the tin - 'baby' not toddler! Probably up to about 20 months your little one would be snug and happy. I'd have no worries about putting a one year old in a tied off Midi bag as suggested above and at least that way the bag will last her (should you wish!) until she's about 6ish. Really impressed with the Vango bags personally. A great bit of kit. Hope this helps!
another vote for the Vango Nitestar, I was absolutely gutted when our lad outgrew his, it was a great sleeping bag, he was so warm in the morning, he loved it. They looked really cute aswell!
When we went last year my littlest was around the 2 mark - we found that the fleecey sleep suits were a great layer and then used one of the normal childrens grobag type sleeping bags - one of the warmer style ones and blankets, though in the summer we did manage to forget it and went to asda and brought a kids one - my general opinion on them was that as long as they had enough pyjama layers on and were off the ground they seemed ok, it is my older child that gets cold and so is no in an adult 4 season bag!!!!! the younger one seems more oblivious to it!
