We used to have one of those metal dish cheapy bbq's from tesco, had it for nearly 2yrs, I'm sure we only paid 47p for it and it just went on and on.
We have got a cobb now and to be fair the tesco one was good but there's no way I would go back to it now.
I have sen the one like skatty's on campsites a lot andthe people using them never look stressed out so go for it
We got the bigger one (lots of us). Got carried away on the first cook (too much charcoal) and had the traditional burnt offering (gives off a lot of heat). After that, kept the heat lower and it was great, big cooking space, and it got a hammering in the evenings as a glowing camp fire and marsh mallow warmer.

Its not mine
As I never remeber to take a pic of our ,I found that picture when someone was selling one on ebay ( for more than they cost new too!! ) and hung onto it for future reference
I'm pleased to hear that - I'm not the best housekeeper in the world but you had me really worried about my failings!
We have an ace charcoal Barby ,adjustable hieght cooking ,and its high so you can cook at areasonable height and its legs fold under like an ironing board so it only takes up a very small space ,only £15 from B&Q too!!
This is like ours
By far and away the best portable bbq i've seen, great cooking area and you can get plenty of height above the coals to cook things nice and slowly and it all folds away nice and tidy.I must have cooked about 50 meals on mine last year. One of the hinges on the lid has give way but i'll be fixing it ready for the new season, wouldn't be without one. They reduce them to about £5 after august bank holiday to get rid as well which is worth noting.
I know it is not quite the same thing, but we use a Weber "Go Anywhere" and it's great. It has a lid, packs up neatly, cooks very well in all weathers (the lid is key), and feels like it will last forever. They are not particularly cheap, but they're excellent quality. They only stand a few inches off the ground, so better suited to more flexible campers, or those with a cookstand.
We have a Weber Go Anywhere and it is fab. We use ours on a cheap fold up stand so it's at table height. The stand is multi purpose, we use it for washing up, putting the shower water on and anything else necessary!

Guy on the pitch next to us had one of your bbqs -he used it near enough every night and it was a cracker - he lined his tray with tin foil - assuming to aid the cleaning process !!
tempted myself !!
Where was this? As I have one of those and I line it with tin foil before I use it as it makes cleaning a doddle....
