would like to get OH a sat nav but he is a LGV wagon driver and always uses maps that show low bridges, does anyone know if low bridge details can be loaded onto sat nav?

Sue,

I don't know, but it would be great if they did and also roads that are just unsuitable for cars, you know the sort that look like only horse and carts use.

Been doing some research and there is a programme called bridgeX so will have a look at that. Now it only leaves the complete minefield of which sat nav to get! HELP!

TomTom, just my opinion but I have used Navman and TomTom and found TomTom to be far more user friendly, I currently use the Original TomTom One and have decided to update to the latest Version in the next month.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 350 and it has got a setting for trucks. However I have not tried it so I cannot report whether it works or not!

Just found the above Sat Nav on the internet, designed for truck drivers, but it's not cheap £399.

Kenles

Bridgex shows something like 6000 low bridges and check the link Snooper Syrius Proline Truck Assist (UK) they seem confident that they cover most problems a truck driver may come across but I have never used the system.

You can purchase 'low bridge' point-of-interest (POI) files for upload to the appropriate sat nav. Tom Tom has 3500 low bridges on its UK map.
