Hi
I'm toying with the idea of going north this summer, June, Loch Lomond, Loch Ness and Morar. I've heard of the midges problem and wondered whether any of you had used the Clearlite lamp. Also, if you have, which model?
Many thanks

As Carole has pointed out it's had some good reviews........ unfortunately when we tried ours it didn't work that well so got relegated to the bin and we went back to citronella candles.

Did you use citronells oil in your lamps, Pete? We like ours, but have to admit that we've mostly used them for ambiance rather than for mosi protection.

We used the candles last year in the lakes and they worked brilliantly for us.

We live by Loch Lomond and found the midges to be worse in the Lakes than by home lol!

My Clearlite is brill at clearing flies out of the tent, don't know which model it is. You do need to replace the chemical mat every few months. Citronella candles never seem to work that well for me, but incense sticks are very good.

Hi we've used ours under our roll out awning and it works really well, we couldn't sit out for the midges so lit the lamp and waited ten minutes and had a great night!!

We have used ours for about four years in the awning, after a few minutes you find all the midges and flies have either gone, or are confined to the corners, where they don't bother you!

I have also got one of the electric fly zappers which I also keep hung up, and use it over night. It kills off what ever is left of the little blighters!!

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had tried mixing Citronella oil and water together in them fragrance burners for inside the tent, the ones that look like little mushroom things that you put a mixture of oil and water into and a T-Light inside the little hole underneath???

My wife is a magnet for anything that can sting or bite her, she only needs to step outside and its guaranteed that they are just sitting there waiting for her, and you can just imagine these little buggers saying mmmmmmmm here comes lunch. hahaha, I shouldn't laugh she really does suffer from stings and bites, and she is usually allergic to most bug repellants.

Any advise for her to be able to enjoy the great outdoors without being eaten alive every time she goes out would be most welcome.

Regards

 Steve.

Steve, has your wife tried Avon skin so soft dry oil spray? I used to get bitten lots but with this pleasant non greasy spray, midges and mozzies go and eat someone else. I heard that it's a secret weapon of the marines..........you can get it online....
