Tadge frustrated!

I am trying to buy or at least look at the options for a 2/3 season sleeping bag but I want a square one. The problem is comparing a 2/3 season  bag with ones listed as ounces or grams. What would be equivalent to a 2/3 season bag does anyone know? I would appreciate your help.

Also what fabric is best?  I have read all the other threads but cant just get my head around it.

I assume you mean the "fill power" when you mention weights.  I do agree that the classifications are very confusing and this from Wiki doesn't help much eather.

I would expect a conversion from cm3/gr to cuft/oz would give a usable comparison.  I usualy go for a recognised brand and apply a good pinch of salt to their own season rateing.

Best material?  Best for what?

Durability, easy cleaning, windproofing, softness, weight, water resistance?

Again I would go for a reputable make.

I bought three new bags yesterday.

Two of them are Easy Camp, Quantum Plus. They are the rectangular variety and made from polycotton and the label indicates that they are for use in temperatures from -5c up to 22c, reasonably priced and my only slight complaint after a quick test run is the length. I am a six footer and these bags are two metres long and I am wondering about the "snuggalability" factor, if you know what I mean.

The other was a Gelert Freedom Lady, for my daughter, and this is the "mummy" shape and appears to have a greater warmth/comfort range. Longer as well but I find the odd shape too claustrophobic.

What was meant by not unzipping all around and having to use a laundry  I hadnt considered this point at all!!     aaaaaargh!!!!!!

The Vango Astral 350 (and 350XL) are what we use, and they are good bags. They do unzip all round (it's the double that doesn't).

I think maybe the point was that if you are considering a double sleeping bag then it is better perhaps to get 2 x singles (or 2 of the XL's), one left and one right hand zip, then they can be zipped together to form a massive and comfy double bag if you want, but equally can be unzipped to be washed separately.
