got our current set last year from wilkinsons, very cheap think £4 ish .

how much are the sets in aldi?  Think they are £6.99, well worth it !

Steradent tablets will remove tea and coffee stains from melamine mugs - fill with water and dissolve one tablet in each mug, brings them up a treat.

Riversway Leisure at Preston have a nice colourful melamine set - 'Flamenco' - for £14.95. They were out of stock when I wanted some the other week so I got some of Asda's cheap picnic ware, £1 for each piece - looks like coloured Pyrex - but wish I hadn't bothered. I've used one dinner plate twice and already it's full of scratches from the knife and fork - think I should have waited and got what i really wanted from Riversway.

I only really got those because we were refurbishing our recently-aquired caravan and the ones I really wanted from Riversway were unavailable at the time, and I hadn't seen anything I liked anywhere else. There's only two of us and the ones I've got won't get a lot of use so they should last a couple of seasons before they look a mess - I'll get the melamine ones I wanted from Riversway as soon as I can and keep them till the cheap ones look past their best.
