Asda usually does a 'big boy' chair. We have one and it is about half as wide again as a regular chair but I'm not sure about weight. Why not give head office a call and see if they will be doing them this year and ask how much weight they can take. Also phone maybe Towsure or P J Camping and see what they suggest.

TravelChair has a line called Antartic rated at about 180 kgs. Alps Mountaineering make several style "camp chairs" rated at about 160 kgs.

Try an angling shop or fishing supplier for a carp chair. They may cost a bit more but I'm pretty sure I have seen some heavy duty models.

LarryG,We live in England not the USA,so even though the chairs you told us about are fine,it would be too expensive to consider shipping over.

Freddie,we had a 'Big Boy' in 2006 but after a short time the fabric wore through the top of the poles so we returned it,apparantly it is aweak point on the chair.

we will keep looking, thanks for all your feedback.

I use a chair made by Sunncamp, cant find it online but its similar in shape to the Outwell moon chairs. I'm a 6'2" and 18 stone rugby player and I've never had any problems with this chair. Sorry I cant find one online or remember the name tho.

Don't know if it is any use, but Halfords have 2 for 1 on camping chairs at the moment. If you order today online (can pick up in store) you get 10% off as well!

Thanks for the tip on Halfords. Just ordered 2 kids camping chairs for £8.99. Good buy for grandchildren when we take them away.

No worries. I'm always after a bargain! I'm glad I could help particularly as this was no use for me...
