In our tent it's the job of the first person to go to the loo block to empty the bucket, and that included our son from when he was about nine. One huge advantage of keeping it simple, after all, is that carrying the bucket and cleaning it is very easy.

I wouldn't have a portapotti in my tent if you paid me, tbh. I wouldn't be prepared to clean out the thing at all so how could I expect anyone else to do it either? And as for the folk that use it for everything and keep the whole unsavoury mess in a hot tent for days...urgh. What's that like to clean out?

I wouldn't like to clean a fully used PP, but i'm afraid it comes down to pure strength in our TT. We have a bit of a unwritten rota, everyone has their jobs from getting organised to unpacking on our return. We've always explained to my parteners children that it's an all hands on holiday when we go camping and we find this works for us, My OH does the loo because he's phsically stronger than me or the girls. Saying that I do wish that we had bought a bucket with a lid but as new campers we invested in PP so we might aswell use it
