Hi,

Does anyone know if Snuggledown sleeping bags are still made. Mine is quite old now but still ok but has been so great I'd like a new one. I've looked on the website and can only see duvets. Any help much appreciated.

Hi Summertime & welcome to the forum

Never heard of Snuggledown sleeping bags, but the name itself conjures up a feeling of cosiness. So I'll be watching this topic for replies.

Just done a quick search. Snuggledown are made by a Swiss owned Norwegian company called Ajungilac. Apparently they have been making sleeping bags for over 150 years, I assume they are still sold in this country, perhaps a retailer could post the brand name?

I wish I could find a supplier for them over here. We have just had to take our snuggledown sleeping bags out of use after years and years and I tried all ways to find another supplier but couldn't. They were certainly the best we have ever had and can't bear to part with them so we keep them as spares. Unfortunately through frequent washing, the zips have gone. If you do find somewhere I would be very interested.

I agrre Margaret - they are the best sleeping bags I have had. mine is still ok after 18 years and loads of washes but  I'd like a new one. If anyone knows who supplies them i'd be very grateful - I would certainly reccommned them. For anyone who has not had one - they are very 'puffy', warm and cosy and seem to last for years no matter how much camping and washing they get thrown at them!

By the end of 1960 the company started to export their sleeping bags through Helly Hansen to Sweden, Germany and England. In 1973 the company established the first branch in England, called “Snuggledown”. 6 years later, in 1979, the distributing company in England was reinforced through the production plant Milton Keynes, in 1980 the name of the company was changed to Ajungilak A/S and a German branch was established in Hamburg.

I have just had a look at the links but they are nothing like our snuggledowns. Ours were square with a very attractive colourful design and the lining was a self colour all cotton. They were very SNUGGLY.

You are right Margaret. My snuggledown is very puffy, square and colourful - but maybe this is the 'new style' - I will have to go to Blacks and have a look at them!
