Hi, i am looking to buy gas canister for my cooker, are the empty cylinders they sale on ebay ok to exchange - do you need any paperwork to get them filled up, and where can you get them filled.
Does your cooker take gas canisters or does it run from a low pressure bottle?
Canisters are not refillable, bottles can be re-filled - or rather exchanged for full ones. You don't need the original paperwork to exchange. There's really 3 makes of these, Calor, Campingaz and Alta/Budget/Supa/Flogas (all the same company now), they all have suppliers all over the country.
You can pick up empty bottles at car boots, from freecycle, and some council tips will sell them or give them to you (but not sadly our local one).

Ive just bought a single burner stove with the aerosol type gas tins, just tested it out to cook breki, scrambled egg rolls washed down with some irn bru.
How should these tins be disposed off, Im guessing its not best practice to put them in your rubbish bin.
P.S. I wouldn't get one from E-bay unless you can collect as the postage woud be horrendous - they are very heavy even empty, also I don't think the post office will take them.
Empty canisters can go in can recycling like any aerosol cans.

Thanks, cant remember the last time I bought an aerosol can.
Wish our council would sort out our recycling, the gave everyone garden waste bins last year even though a lot of people, me and my neighbours included, dont have enough garden waste to justify a big wheely bin for it, they told us if we refused to take the bin we would be fined? I thought it would have been more important for them to make sure tins and plastics were kept out of the landfil but they havent sorted any uplifts for this, I dont mind having to take items to the recycling point as I have a car but I know a lot of people who dont. (Sorry for rant)
