We have just decided to getinto camping now the kids are young. have looked at several posts but cannot find an answer. obviously, if I get a mains hook up I need an Electrical hookup unit but I presume that I could use a leisure batery but cannot find how I would connect the batery to the EHU

Are you camping in a tent?  If you are you wouldn't need a leisure battery as the electric items you need, usually, plug straight into the electric hook up unit.  Hope this helps.

you would be better of getting an elecric hook up then, if there is no hook up where you camp, i wouldent use a generator for long theres usually hook ups at camp sites but i prefer not using electric, but thats just me

Your options are EHU but you will pay per night for power and you have to watch how much you are using so you don't trip the electric Plenty of threads on EHU

Leisure battery not tied to EHU pitch but you need to be able to charge it yourself or ask at site many have charging facilities small charge or put it in to a garage Usually a small charge but ask first as I was once told £5.00 I went to the next garage and paid .50p.   Ours now has a car charger so we just pop it in the car when we go out to keep it topped up. For lights it will run them for a fortnight without a recharge.  12 volt cool boxes and TV do run it down

Generators are usually not welcome unless you are wild camping or on rallies.

It depends on what style of camping you are going for which is the best system for you

Hi, Look for something like this, It's a lab-craft trailerpack tp2 this holds a leisure battery and can be charged from mains or in the car when driving around during the day and will then give you 12v power for when you have no EHU.
