OK, so this might sound like a really daft question but what do you guys use to light your stoves?!
I'm a newbie to camp cooking and have just invested in a Coleman duel fuel and am proposing to run it on unleaded fuel. I've only just thought about how I might get round to lighting the thing! I want something that will work in all weathers and is going to be reliable.
So what do you guys recommend? Water/weatherproof matches? A lighter that you use for your fags? A fire steel?
We used to use a lighter that was shaped like a gun,so you could get it right into the gas jet. We tried an old fire steel too, but it was more awkward. Matches were hopeless!
There are lots, long or short electronic lighters that most supermarkets sell to light BBQs,or a disposable cigerette lighter, or the simple box of matches,
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
I take a gas lighter and a box of matches, and keep both in a long thin plastic box like you get for keeping bacon in the fridge. Neither lighter nor matches will work if they get the tiniest bit damp.
A ciggie lighter will just singe your knuckles every time you light your stove. Trust me on this one.......
Same here long nose refillable gas lighter with a cut off switch, got mine from a supermarket cost about £1.50 a few years ago. They normally appear when the BBQ gear is put out.
I've a turboflame original which lights just about anything in any weather. The turbostick might fit the bill if you want more distance from point of ignition.
