Can I get your opinion of the Outwell Contour 2300 sleeping bag please.  Me and OH need some better ones than we have and these look like they should do the job.

Want them so that left and right hand zips can zip together to make a double but I can just have one when I camp without him.  What do you reckon, good enough to keep me warm like my kids seem to be when camping in April.

Don't like sleeping bags with mummy style feet ends, before anyone suggests one of those, too claustrophobic, like to be able to kick my feet around.

Hi I dont know anything about this bag.If you zip two bags two bags together  less of the bag be close to your body and cool air will enter easier when you move around. Therefore the bag would need to be at least a 4season. Then compare tog ratings the warmth will vary.Try to find a magazine with sleeping bag test in these list nearly every bag on sale. And give all info warmth etc. Hope this helps .

While I don't know about that one , I just got the camargue sleeping bag from awnings direct, for £14.99.

I don't like being closed in inside a sleeping bag either, don't like the nylon feel of the mummy bags either, these are extra wide, 36 inches I think? and can open out to be used as a duvet,or you can zip 2 together, or just open the bottom to stick your feet out.

They are very thick, quite bulky too in their stuff sac, but they do go back in the sac easily. I have a 15 tog duvet on my bed and this feels as thick as it. I haven't used it yeat, but having always had square type sleeping bags, this is the thickest one I've ever had. i've always used the cotton argos type sleeping bags, which seem to be 200- 400gsm, but just lately starting to feel my age and fel the cold more , so went for these, which are 600gsm, i think they'll keep us toasty warm, in the colder nights, and use as duvets in the warmer ones.

Mountain Equipment have sleeping bags that have an elasticated section. Great idea 'cos then you've got room to thrash about  - but it's going to cost you at least 3 or four times more than an Outwell

I had to buy a new sleeping bag last year after a very cold eekend under my cheap ancient mummy style bag! I used to spend all night fighting with the bag as I am quiet a restless sleeper! So when it came to buying a new bag it had to be a square one. I didn't realise you could still get the same thickness and with the hoods and shoulder baffles as you can with the uumy style bags. I opted for the Vango astral sq - although i don't think this is manufactured anymore but vango have new styles this year which are very similar. I love it - warm is not the word and I can move around happily in my sleep without getting all tangled and finding the hood part over my face!!!

My OH loves mummy style bags so in the end he ended up with a Vango Nitestar 350  mummy syle bag - no zipping together fr us!! lol. I think he only did it so he desn't get kicked and punched all night. His vango is brilliant and on our last rip in september last year, he had to sleep with it open as t really is a cosy and warm bag!!

After using cheap bags I really would vote for vango sleeping bags - so cosy!

Hope you find a bag that suits you
