Hi,
I'm looking to get a table and 2 separate benches. I've seen a few ni camping shops which look really flimsy (quite a few posts on here as well about poor quality sets). This looked more like it (well a smaller version at least). Has anyone got recommendations ?
Many thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim

That set looks like a standard Army 6 foot table, and from experience I can tell you they weigh a ton.

Check these out HERE they look a bit more like it.

Paul,

Thanks for the pointer. I'd seen something very similar to that in a display, and it didn't look very sturdy (we've a 2 and a 4 year old, and for eating and colouring/beetle drives etc, we need something which they can wriggle on without it collapsing).

I take your point that the wooden one I pointed at probably is impractical due to weight (and size for that matter, we'd be looking for 4foot rather than 6).

Thanks,
Tim

We looked at those and decided they were a bit small and not very stable.
We have bought one of these
Its a bit fiddly to put up, but it is sturdy and quite stable once up and is a decent size. It packs up into a long bag which is quite compact and it is not too heavy. The only potential pitfall I can see is that the slats are loose so a child could displace them from underneath. We have only used it once so far as its new this season and we are happy with it. We have a four year old and a six year old and we didn't have any problems. If your seriously thinking about one and can't get to look at one let me know and I'll knock it up and take a few detailed photos for you (assuming I can find the camera).

Cheers

Alasdair

Thanks for the pointers. I think I need to get myself to a shop and see the ones you suggest. It's quite hard to get a good impression from the pics...
Cheers,
Tim

Has anyone got or seen one of these ? http://sourcehorse.co.uk/shop.php?c=o1&n=10709021&i=B0013BF1UO&x=Palm_Springs_Foldable_Table_and_Benches_Picnic_Set_Green
Doesn't seem too expensive (seen it at this price on amazon and ebay shops), and sounds pretty solid.
Cheers,
Tim
