WELL !!!

What a palaver. We decided at the weekend to erect this "pop up" awning. Our first time . Yours truly had taken out the instructions to read them and guess what. They got mislayed. Oh well we thought it can't be that difficult. Wrong !! 3 bloody hours it took us. It was up but not a pretty sight I can tell you. We bent most of the pegs in the hard standing so went and bought proper ones. Then once it was up and all pegged in place (well sort of) we discovered it was all wrong. We had it too far over to one side. Then it rained and the  thing was leaking like a sieve. So it's going back and the replacement will have instructions.

We had a good laugh in the end.

I thnk these pop up porches are a great idea for a weekend away or if there is only 2 of you, but we carry far too much stuff to be able to go with a small awning lol, hope you get better luck with the replacement, at least you saw the funny side of it

There is only two of us and the awning was empty and we didn't use it at all. . Didn't fancy sitting in it I would be scared it fell on top of us. Oh the joys of being a newbie

Hi Cath,

Very similar experience with our full awning, we looked a right sight a few weeks back and the language we used at each other - not very nice.

Glad you see the funny side of it, we can now but at the time its a nightmare.  My hubby had a black eye from our awning pole, and we had to go weekend without the awning as it had bent poles and ripped.

Hope you have better luck with the replacement awning and are able to see the funny side.   Someone gave us good advice, not to attemp any awning till you have arrived set up, had a cuppa or a beer and then attemp the awning when you are more relaxed.

Kris

If you come along to any of the ukcampsite meets then we all rally round and lend a hand with things like awnings and tents.

Cheers Wendy. That's good because we certainly don't have a clue
