Hi

My first posting to these forums, so I hope I got the right one! We recently bought a Cadac Global Grill and, apart from a few minor niggles, are very pleased. We nipped into Towsure today and bought the Oven dome to go with it, but unfortunately there are no instructions with it (and the ones with the Global Grill are in Danish or German or something - not sure what!). What we want to know is if we should keep the reversible grill plate on the Cadac when we use the oven, or remove it (the oven dome came with a wire rack, so we've got something to put the food on!). My thiking is that the plate will spread the heat out a bit more evenly and avoid burning the food - but will using the plate with no oil or food on it damage it? All the pictures I've seen show the oven dome with a vector BBQ grill, not the global grill. Can anyone let me know how I should use it? Also, can it be used just like the oven at home to cook frozen pizzas etc?

Thanks for any advice.

dont know about pizza but the oven dome helps you cook on a lower gas and cooks through your stuff better the hotplate fries food but on a low gas with the mesh and the lid on it cooks slowly and thoroughly.....we didnt buy the lid for ours used me bbq lid. Its just getting used to it . you win a few you burn a few ....lol

I'd think the grill plate would burn anything laying on it under the dome. We use our dome with the wire rack, which basically makes it an oven. Cooks lovely like that.

I have the sqame dilemma

Haven't used any of it yet - off this weekend! for 2 weeks in Wales

might end up with burnt breakfast...

Hubby says leave the dome cos of the space, but i bought it cos it seemed like a good idea at the time. The whole thing seems to be great though. So what was the outcome of the dome, how do we use it ? when do we use it ? Whats the thermometer for?

Thanks for any help

I use my dome with the vector BBQ, always greatt results, dont bother with the hermometer as its always droping out, so now lives in the draw.

Hi

Thanks for your replies. Just had this back from Cadac S.A.:

"You can use the Dome with the Grill Plate as well as the Wire Grid, please remember not to turn the heat up, but keep it at a medium setting. The Dome with the Grill Plate keeps the heat in and this cooks the food faster. Please contact our UK office if you need more information"

Regards

Lee

Just come back from a 2 week stint in Wales, and the oven dome worked a treat. Used it for oven chips, pizza and lasagnes in foil containers. As long as you don't set the heat low, it does a great job. Also, we sat round it outside the tent to help keep us warm during the cool evenings.
