Hi

Can anyone help me please.  We've got a Mobicool 3 way fridge.  It seems to work fine when plugged into the electric at home but when we go camping with EHU it doesn't work very well at all.

Is this something to do with voltage & if so is there anything we do to make it work better?

It could be the campsite is working on a lower voltage than what you're used to at home. This could well make the fridge work less good.

Does your electric razor work at a slower rate in the mens room when you groom in the morning? This could be a sign that the site is using lower voltage.

Today's voltage is normalised at 220 ~ 230 V. as opposed to the 110 Volts it used to be in some forgotten era last century. Still, there are campsites still using it, so it will be worth to check this. If so, there must be an appliance (transformer?) that upgrades 110 V to 220 Volt to make your fridge work again.

All UK campsites will be 230 volt (nominal). The long cable runs on some sites will cause a voltage drop but not so severe that would cause a thermostatically controlled fridge to suffer.

3-way fridges need to be level to operate effectively and I suspect that is the reason you are seeing a difference in performance when camping. It's surprising how much slope there can be on a pitch that appears flat.

Buy a small spirit level and some door stoppers (the pound shops do a pack that contains some great big ones, which are ideal). Get the fridge level (side to side more important that front to back) and you'll be chillin'

I also find that they work less effectively when completely full but that's just something I have to live with when SWMBO insists on filling up the space between bottles with foodstuffs
