I think the answer is no, for this reason i'm banned from attending any kind of caravan show. I thought that I had steered husband away from this reservation, then his mate over the weekend was telling us that he and his wife had gone to the caravan show this year, for a few small bits and bobs, and came out of there with a brand new motorhome on order!!
I always browse and window-shop if I pass a camping shop/store/tent display when I'm on my own, and if I can get away with it when I'm with others.
I can't really put my finger on why. Maybe it's just looking for that great little gadget that meets a particular "need", or wanting to keep up with latest developments in tent design.
I can`t stop looking. If there`s a tent show I HAVE to go look. Camping shop? Can`t walk by. Poundshops, cheap shops, you name it I look for camping stuff So far this year I have been good, I`ve only bought four UFO lights to date and that`s only `cos OH won`t let me buy anything else
We have just returned from holiday in Holland, where do you think we spent one day of the holiday, we found a caravan and camping shop we were so excited looking round at caravans and equipment. At the campsite we were staying at, we saw the Dutch carrying their washing up buckets and thought they were a brilliant idea much better than our boring bowls. So amongst other things we bought one for ourselves and one for my brother and sister in law, they were over the moon with it. It doesn't take much to please campers and caravanners.
If not for ourselves, OH will say "just ideal for our son; or our daughter; so we just love shopping for bits. I suppose when youve got everything, it becomes too heavy, and you need a bigger unit to carry it all. Oh well!!!!!!
I went to Camping and General, in Canvey Island, last Saturday, just for something to do and to look around, ended up buying a new tent. Well an ex-display model. Went back today to collect it, as they dismantled it during the week for me. However resisted the temptatin to buy anything else, well I also bought lots of bits and pieces last week....

LOL, my mum does the same...keeps phoning me up and telling me that my Father wouldn't let her have something, so she bought it for me, only thing is, that usually I already have it!!!
You can window shop and not but the goods - but that very rarely happens in our house. We have even got to the point of not telling the kids we are going to look in camping shops until we are well on the way as they moan so much about it. There's always something that you see that "you never know when it will come in handy"
