I have a 1996 countryman folding camper which I purchased off ebay. I've just had my first attempt at home putting it up ( I don't want to look a right plonker when I get to a campsite for the first time). The first problem I have is I can't find the manual for the fridge. The  fridge is a camping gaz T618 which is a 3way. I tried mains to it and left overnight, fridge went to 7 deg and freezer -15 deg outside temp 23 deg. I wanted to try it on gas but not sure how to light it and check that it is in fact alight. I'm a conplete novice with folding campers but so far so good however I have yet to try the awning and sun canopy. I'm rambling on abit so I'll get to the chase. Does anyone know where I can get instructions or a manual for my Fridge ?

Cheers

Gary

Hi
when using my fridge on gas it takes a surprising amount of time for the gas to come through and purge the air out of the pipe. I've never timed it but it must be a couple of minutes. An anxious time if you've never done it. Apparently you should replace the flexible pipes and the regulator regularly, annually I think.

found this on another website - just cut and pasted the bits for you:

(a) First it’s a good idea to make sure that gas is getting to the fridge. There should be a gas cock in the supply pipe adjacent to the fridge, make sure this is tuned on. Now light one of the burners on the hob. This confirms gas is getting into the supply pipes. It also helps clear some of the air from the pipes if the fridge has not been switched on for some time.

(b) Next go through the lighting procedure: -

Piezo Igniter – Set the temperature control to a mid-setting. Now push the knob and hold it in (this is the flame failure device). Hold in for around five seconds. Now depress the Piezo igniter rapidly three or four times in rapid succession. Continue holding in the flame failure device and look through the viewing glass to see if the flame is alight. If it is then hold in the knob for about twenty seconds and release it. The flame should stay alight. If it goes out repeat the procedure. If the flame will still not stay alight there is a problem with the flame failure device or the thermocoupler. The repair is a professional job.

If the gas will not light at all, despite repeated attempts, there is a problem with the burner. The repair is a professional job. You should ensure that the gas system has a complete service. This involves cleaning the gas central tube and burner and replacing the jet (this should always be replaced, never cleaned, as there is a risk of enlarging the orifice).

Electronic Igniter – The procedure is as above. However instead of depressing the Piezo Igniter you switch on the electronic igniter and leave it switched on, even when the gas lights.

or could be this:
The fridge works satisfactorily on Mains but not on Gas.

There is a problem with the burner which should be given a complete service.

Thank you for your input. I'm going to use camper for the first time next weekend (Bank holiday) on a adults only campsite that actually had room.

Thanks again

Good Afternoon

I appreciate this is a long shot as the above is quite a few years old, however I am having trouble with my T618 fridge. I'm just wondering if anyone has a manual out there? basically i just want to know if there is some sort of viewing glass to see if the gas is lit?

Many thanks
