We are hoping to take our kids' bikes camping this year and I have bought a low mount cycle carrier.

I gather that I will need a lighting board for the back. We haven't got a tow bar fitted. Does anyone know what's involved in fitting a lighting board and how costly it would be to get the electrics done.

tie the lighting board to the bikes.

electrics are easy too, simply by a prewired 12n (black) socket, wire it to your lights as below using the blue scotch blocks.

you can store it away in the boot when not in use and hang it out the boot and plug the light board in when need be. no drilling required

Wiring Code

1 Yellow - LH Indicator

2 White - Earth

3 Blue - Fog

4 Green - RH Indicator

5 Brown - RH Tail

6 Red - Brakes

7 Black - LH Tail

hope this helps

You might get away with the above, BUT if the wires chaff and short out?  Also what if you have a canbus wiring system!  It's much better to make sure the wires  are routed properly, getting to the outside through gromit protected holes and fitted into asocket held via a bracket fixed to the bodywork/chassis.  If you do not feel confident get a fitter to do it it could be cheaper in the long run.
