I was going to get one of these but i read somewhere that they are not worth the money. One said that he boiled a kettle as it was quicker.

They can be fun for the kids to play with on a warm day but as a functional alternative to a real shower they are pants. They're either too hot if you're out in sunny foreign climes or, far more usually, freezing. And there's very little water in them anyway.

Solar shower not practical for more than one quick shower in the evening ( takes that long to warm up and not enough water for more than one person ) usually used for washing up after the evening meal. You also need to hang it high to use it so not practical in a tent.
For the cost of one I would recommend a battery / 12 volt shower, fill your fire bucket with water to your preferred temperature stand in your toilet tent in a cheap paddling pool ( makes a good shower tray ) and the whole family can shower to their hearts content.

We have one of these and it really does work. It means we can go anywhere any time and not worry about site facilities.

Hi oldham
It's discontinued at Maplins on line, went to their shop in the city and they had none. Have you seen them anywhere else? Will use your brilliant idea for a shower tray, the grass always gets mushed where we wash.

I have used a solar shower for years. Brilliant bit of kit. The shower rose is c**p so I do cheat and add one of the shower thingys that Maplin (as recco'd by Oldham ) sell from time to time. The water is sometimes so hot that it would take the skin off your back.
addendum: I have just pulled the filler off my shower. pretty good that, its lasted for over 10 years of regular use: Now off to get another one

We use the solar bags to create hot water if the sun is shining, we then stick that in a bucket mix it to temperature and use the Maplin's shower (Coleman make one too that you can order from the US). It gives you free hot water if the weather is good but if not we heat the water on the hob.

Redmx99, The Coleman shower we had was just like the Maplin one, a submersible pump with a battery pack attached to it. The Coleman one did actually screw onto the opening of a collapsible water container.
Coleman do a fitting to go on their on demand system but I'm too tight to buy things like that!
Have a look at www.basspro.com, they have lots of goodies and will ship to the UK.
