We put toilet fluid in the bottom of ours (the type you put in a porta potti) but I know others use a disinfectant like Zoflora to kill germs and stop smells. For cleaning we use a drop of disinfectant and Dettol floor wipes, I have to say I have never done it as my poor man slave has done it every time but if you just take a bottle of disinfectant with you then that should do for the daily refresh and the clean at the end.
I just ordered one of these too and I think I will do what I have read on other posts, ie use a biodegradable bin bag with some cat litter in the bottom, and it can just be put in the bin next morning - assuming no er, solids.
The Zoflora sounds a good idea, especially if we get any warm weather during the summer months - unlikely as it seems.

Out of interest - why a biodegradable bin bag? - could understand if you were planning on composting it but then you wouldn't want Zoflora in your compost bin?
Water plus a drop of washing up liquid, then rinse again. It's only pee after all. (If you're going to be doing solids in a tent toilet get a portapotti.) Pee is sterile when it leaves the body and if you empty the bucket first thing in the morning it doesn't get the chance to smell. Water works perfectly well as a flush in your mains toilet after all, so why not in a bucket?
I think it is all in the mind, I know wee is sterile but in my mind but I just cant swill it out with water and then put my gas bottle in it to travel back home, wee all over my stuff .......urgh
I have to use some sort of disinfectant or cleaner.
I think a biodegradable bag into the normal bin is mostly about less plastic - if everything put into the bin will biodegrade, there is a little bit less for long-term landfill.

Washing up liquid, like I said? And give it a double wash at the end then let it drip dry on the grass?
You wash your knickers with just detergent, after all.....
