last year we took two cars when we went camping, my wife and the kids (we have four of them) in the C8 and me in a renault clio which was full of the main tent items (Kyham Ridgi Pod Ex etc).

Weve decided this year its time we invested in a trailor,  now ive been looking around for the past year or so, and have pretty much settled on the Duuo Plus as we dont have off street parking or a garage, so any trailor will need to be stored in the back garden whilst not in use and the plus appears to give us plenty of space.

This brings me on to my questions.  The first, and obviouse one is has anyone got any experience of these trailors (good, bad indiferent) or has anyone got any other recomendations that i should look at?

The second is are there any driving license restrictions i need to be aware of to be able to tow this type of trailor?  I've tried looking at the DVLA web site etc, but just end up more confused than when i started,  I understand the general highway code rules of not excedeing 60Mph, not allowed in outside lane of motorways etc.

The third question is does anyone know of a good place to get and have fitted a tow bar for a Citreon C8 in Powys and if so which sort of tow bar should i be looking at?

The fourth and hopfully final question is are there any Trailor essential items that i also need to bear in mind (security devices, etc etc).

Thanks for your help?

Hi Leedg,

Please read the thread in the Caravan "towing section" - this should give you all the info you need about trailer towing etc.

Secondly, we have similar set up to you - ie 4 kids, excelsior with 3 bedroom pods etc, roof-box, Zafira and a Brenderup trailer.

The Brenderup trailers have an excellent reputation. We are on our second, with absolutely NO problems! Ours has an ABS lockable lid which provides security as well as extra storage space. As this trailer is lockable it can be used to keep your equipment in on your back garden or if you are short on space then it can also be stored on its end.

I did have a look at the Duuo trailer before I bought ours but I liked the fact that ours can carry a spare wheel and Importantly ours has 13" wheels!

For security we have a wheel lock and a hitch lock cover and obviously the lid locks too.

Another piece of advice I would offer is when you have found the size of trailer you want GO FOR THE NEXT SIZE UP!!!

Our current trailer is the Brenderup 1205s (steel trailer with ABS lid, jockey wheel, spare wheel and spare wheel carrier).

Hope this helps, Elaine
PS It might be for sale if our newly acquired caravan passes its service

HI

We have a duuo trailer, as we can store it in the garage and still get the car in, its been great so far with no worries. you can store a spare wheel on trailer. Id say go for it

With no garage or off street parking then you are limited in what you can store!

Unless you have family or friends with space for the trailer, or if you have other access to your back garden - in which case I'd be tempted to go slightly bigger. Otherwise then the Duuo seems to fit your requirements.

I went over the top and bought an 8' x 4' box trailer!!!

Thanks for the replies,  I think the Duuo is the trailer for me and as long as i go for the plus that should give us enough transport capacity (although i know there is always one more thing to squeeze in).

Thanks

Doug.
