I read an advertisement a while ago about a gas bottle that can be refilled at the same pumps that fill cars with LPG. I must have recycled the magazine as I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Has anybody tried this? it sounds a brilliant idea and I imagine could be used on the Continent. It would certainly solve the problem of wondering whether there is enough gas in the bottle to last throughout the holiday.
i have never run a car on LPG, but assume it's the same as ordinary propane.
Apologies if this question has appeared in a previous thread.

Just joined this site and I think I'm addicted already!!
I Run my Range Rover V8 on LPG and it runs great. There are now thousands of sites round the UK and even more in Europe. I have been thinking of investing for some time in the refillable Cylinders, because when you know the 'pump price' of LPG it really annoys you to have pay the exorbitant prices that cylinder exchangers charge.
The only problem is that the initial purchase price for the hardware seems very high. Also you could get trouble from LPG stations not allowing you to use their pumps to fill cylinders.
Thanks rpgrayson and welcome. As a relative newcomer I am finding this website a great source of help and amusement.
I think this website link was exactly what I was looking at and yes, it's the cost that's a killer unless, as caster says, you use a lot of gas.
The other problem I can see is that the cylinders will probably not fit the bottle cage on my Desert Wolf which can take a 4.5kg bottle. These appear to be the same diameter, but taller.

I looked at these briefly, but decided you'd have to use a lot of gas to justify the cost (probably you'd need to be touring for several months a year). I also understand that the vast majority of garages will not let you refill the cylinders, ostensibly for safety reasons.
All in all not worth it for me, but may be for some people.
