We have the Carri Chef and really like it.  Use it mainly for outdoor cooked breakfast and BBQ.  We like it so much that the wife doesn't even mind washing it up!!

We ordered a Cadac Safari from Tesco the other day using our Tesco vouchers which they doubled up in value - so we ended up getting £30 off the price by using £15 worth of Tesco vouchers - end price was £44 plus £5 delivery as they wouldn't deliver to the shop. Great value really :)

Thanks all,

I actually bit the bullet and ordered the Safari yesterday using as many Tesco vouchers as I could so it only cost me £14 including the delivery - bargain!!!!   I'll let you know how I get on.

By the way we also use our Tesco vouchers to go on holiday to France and Ireland with the Motorhome - but don't forget to ring them up first to find out how many vouchers to cash - don't rely on the prices on the website. It saves a big chunk off your holiday.  And to get more vouchers we have a Tesco credit card so top up the points by using that too.

As they say - Any little helps!!!!!

HI all you Cadac users

I have read all your comments (mostly good), but I am unsure whether I get it?

I recently left work, and had one bought for me as a leaving present.  I see that most of you use it outside, and the only thing I would use it for is perhaps a bbq.

However, reading the instructions re the bbq, there is no mention of bbq coal?  Is this not used?  I always thought that the coal/smoke from a bbq gave  food that unique flavour.  I am missing something?

We are just changing over from a campervan to a caravan (static), and I usually cook outside the van in a revolution outhouse, or bbq.  Until we take over - this Wednesday - not sure how I will cook - inside or out - it will be a case of 'suck it and see'.

Your advise re bbq on cadac would be appreciated.

regards Val

Finally been away in the warm and used my new CADAC safari chef - like a kid with a new toy, even managed to burn myself the first time - changing plates - so just decide what you are going to use and then stick to it.

It's fantastic - can't see what all the fuss is made about cleaning - but then I used the griddle and flat grill mostly.  The flat is easier to clean though.  Big enough for two people.  My old gas hob took ages to set up you had to be staying a while to bother.  This one, pop it out!!! put it onto your tabletop then pack it away in it's bag when you've finished.  Very light too for what it is.

People even stopped by to ask us about it and then said they would get one.  Only two downsides though - 1.  Although you can turn down the flame, there is no indicator to say where you are on the scale, so it's easy to turn off accidentally - then make sure you don't burn yourself lighting it again.  2.  Obviously one-pot cooking - so on one occasion I had to cook rice in the van and the meat on the CADAC.

Love using it and great to get the smell of cooking out of the van.

Thumbs up for CADAC

Hmm, I think we will solve the issue by buying 2 Safari chefs.

That will give us huge flexibility.

Can be:

* A large grill. (2 burner grill)

* Stove and grill

* 2 burner stove

SO - how much gas does this puppy burn?

E.g.:

1. How fast does the grill heat up to grill temperature

2. How fast does it boil 5 liter of water (for pasta)

3. Can I turn down the flame while boiling pasta, or do I need to keep it on full?

Best regards

Jens Jakob
