sorry, but the search function isnt working for me, its just coming up with a blank page. otherwise id look up the old threads.

im going to buy a cadac, but dont know how the various models differ, or which would be best for us.

can anyone help or link to an old thread for me please that might explain?

i think we'd want all the various attachments, so that it can grill, barbecue etc. and ideally pack fairly small.

any advice much appreciated

thanks a lot

This page will help

http://www.rekri8.co.uk/CADAC/carrichef/carrichefindex.html

I've got the chef deluxe, it's got everything but the Paella dish, which doesn't seem to offer anything that the skottle (wok) offers.

thanks tykey, just been on that page actually :-)

theres different sorts of 'chef deluxe' tho, the carri chef and eazi chef. from what i can see, is the only difference the legs?

also one of them said it fitted the larger type gas cylinders. we use the smaller (cant remember what size they are, but about half the size of the biggest ones) gas cylinders. surely you can use either? as long as you got the right connection?

and is there a 'cheapest' place to get them from? they seem to be all around the same price, £99 for top of range. does anyone do free delivery?

thanks a lot

The main difference is the legs  - the carri chef packs down easily to carry about size. I would go for the deluxe and get all the twiddly bits!

With respect to the gas cylinders, by "large" they mean any of the calor/camping gaz type with a regulator, as opposed to the small screw-in canisters.

phew, thats what i was hoping. i wondered if the different size meant different pressures or something. i thought the bottles were all the same, some just had more gas in them, so maybe im right for once :-)

still dont understand why they have different fittings on them for the different sizes really. why wouldnt they do universal fittings? :-/

As regards the fittings, there's no difference for any of the larger bottles with regulators. You just need a standard hose which pushes on. The same for either blue or red gas bottles. There will be a second brass gas jet in the kit, those are for South Africa or somewhere, just chuck that one away.

thanks

could anyone give me a 'packed away' size please for the carri chef deluxe? and how is it packed? in a bag? a box? and is the 'eazi chef tripod leg' cadac much smaller than the carri chef deluxe when packed?

just wanting to know how much bigger itll be than the 'coleman 2 burner and a grill' jobbie we've got at the minute.

cheers

We have the Carri chef and were told that the sizes of that and the easi chef are pretty much the same. They both come in a bag that takes most of the bits - the legs and skottle have seperate bags and the lid sort of fits around the bag itself. It packs away quite neatly but its heavy. Our bag is about 50cm in diameter by about 25 cm depth

We've just ordered a Carri Chef from justkampers.com and their website, service and price was superb.  They offer the Carri Chef for £99 plus £5 postage with a free Cadac accessories pack and BBQ cover.  We ordered it yesterday afternoon and it was delivery this morning at 10am!  We were torn between the Carri Chef and the Safari.  We decided to spend that little bit extra and we are very glad we did.  Superb bit of kit!  Packs down impressively small in individual bags (labelled on the front for each item near enough!) and then they go in a main carry bag. It even has straps for the legs bag.  Big thumbs up here!

It was your recommendation on their service that gave us that extra nudge to buy!  How right you were.  Hoping to get it fired up this afternoon.  For a practice before we go away (or should I say to have a play??!).  Thanks again!   I can see the kitchen unit on our TT becoming somewhat redundant - rainy day kit only I reckon!

Hi Lord Vader, I can't help on this one I'm afraid but I've asked this question on its own thread for you to make it easier to spot (will post it in a minute for you).  Hopefully there may be some Safari owners out there who can help!
