I have my eye on the Aldi ones for Charlies bedroom pod, he cant stay on an airbed for more than 5 mins so I thought a couple of decent mats would be better. I shall be heading off first light Sunday to our local Aldi ! (Unless someone here tells me first that they are not even half-decent....)
I want to know if they're any good or not too. Thought they might be more comfy than a roll mat for the kids when they go to scout/cub camps but they'd need to be smallish when deflated - anyone know what size they deflate to please?
Bought 2 Lidl ones but couldn't get them to inflate hardly at all, they seemed very flat and not too comfy, tried putting air in to start them off as it said, no use. Took them back for refund Maybe I didn't use them right? Left them for 1/2 hour to see if they would puff up but no joy.
I got 2 from netto, dark blue with inflatable pillows. They inflated quite quickly and although aren't very thick (1-2cm) they were quite comfy. Used them for the V Festival when space was an issue!
We have just got some Aldi ones as we didn't really get on with the foam ones or big inflatable ones. Although I don't have experience of the self inflaters, they seem to be pretty good and inflate to 5cm which is great. Not been out on them as yet but from inital tests I think they will be the business. For £9.99 they have to be a bargain! Rolled up they are are possibly slightly smaller then the hard foam mats we have that are about 1cm thick.
Well have put our lidls mats up tonight and they inflated fine to a comfy but firm feeling depth. Tiddler is sleeping on them already and i will be testing them out later will report back
Oh and having used the foam mats for backpacing i would say the lidl mats are alot bigger and certainly heavier so i would not be so sure if suitable for scout camping if having to carry kit for any distance
just bought 2 from aldi's, after (seeing these posts) - 9.99 - brilliant, very impressed - particularly as i was about to spend #18 each + p&p (daughter is asleep at home on one now!!)
thank you members board!!!
well owing to huge power cut this morning could not post earlier but thought i would say my 6yo slept like a log on her mat and i found mine fine. OK so its not as bouncy as an airbed but it was also not cold ( and i forgot to put anything between it and sig of tent, just a sheet on top) not clammy the next day.
I would say for the money they are good. Talked with DD today about it and we agreed that its alot "firmer" than sleeping on the airbeds but obviously less hassle in terms of setting camp up and more comfy than those chape foam mats.
Oh and by chance we popped into our local millets today. They also had self inflating mats including a "fat aric" copy that inflates to 7.8cm for £39, they hadone hanging up ready inflated and that looked super comfy
If you have the aldi ones for 9.99 i would say they are a good buy
