I needed an ECU last month and was also confused by the choice.I bought the 2nd unit and used it May Bank Holiday and found it great. The 1st unit, I have seen for prices ranging from £49.95 and £59.95 so the £44.95 for the 2nd unit was a bonus. I'm no expert but it seemed plenty sturdy enough to me. The RCD/Breaker is on the rear with the 2 resetable switches. As has been said earlier, it's freestanding and accomodated all the electric appliances I needed. Just be carefull how many high wattage appliances you plug in or you will trip the RCD and/or maybe the site RCD aswell.I had a heater and portable fridge plugged in, and a 3 way adaptor with light and portable tv/radio plugged in and had no problems.

The only things I plan to plug in will be my hairdryer and straigtners. I love cooking by other means and am happy to boil a kettle on the gas ring. I even like the subtle light given by a lantern so  could cope easily without EHU if it was not for my hair!

We've just bought the second Delta unit from Towsure - looks absolutely fine with adequate safety features and as someone said before the polarity light is there on the back. You can stand this one off the ground on a table which is handy. 20m cable is long enough.
