Hi there, we have had quite a few types of camping chair and i break most of them fooling about when i've had a few beers lol. Anyway the best one for us so far and that has also taken the beer abuse is the Keenets Pro Carp Chair from Argos. It also has adjustable legs for uneven ground, as you get on campsites lol.

It folds flat too

500

Superb padded lightweight carp chair.

Features
Extremely strong steel frame
Padded back and seat
adjuatable legs Mud feet attached

i want that carp chair!

especially for the dorset slopes.

how much adjustment is there ??

i may have to wait 'til next year as i am a bit shopped out :(

and anyway what i really want is the carp recliner!

i got quite a nice chair in tescos, reduced. I think it was called 'luxury'. It has metal arms, it's nice and wide and i can tuck my feet in the cross pieces, to keep my hip level.

i had a chair with a legrest thingy last year and it drove me mad!!!!!

the leg rest was just too short for a start so my feet weren't supported and it was a nightmare to get it into position and then when you leant forward if collapsed again!

this year i will go back to taking a collapsable footstool.

or a luggable log :)

there are a few more suggestions, for chairs for big bums, amongst this lot :)

I have the same carp chair - birthday pressie off hubbie for our fishing trips but gets equal use as a camping chair.  Each leg adjusts independently and it reaches a reasonable height for sitting comfortably.  As I suffer from arthritis, a comfortable chair is a real neccessity and this has proved to be just that.

I was just looking through some other threads on chairs and i think the (evil) walmart big boy may be discontinued which saves me pondering about getting another one of those for my husband.

they were comfortable but we broke 2 last year because they have a weak point that takes all the strain when you lean on the arms to get up.:(

I know he would appreciate the carp chair once he tried it so i think a trip to the local fishing shop is in order before we set off for the slopes of dorset again.

I am reasonably happy with my tesco one for my dodgy hip but as Ronni said, a good chair makes all the difference when you have joint issues!

If you want something that will last and will be very comfortable, I would recommend you look at some of the fishing chairs from angling shops.

The Argos one is OK, but there are far better ones out there that are made from more lightweight materials, more compfy and the mechanism on the legs will be better quality and quicker to operate.

There are loads on the market, but here's an example of what I'm talking about. This chair is very light as it's aluminium, folds flat, 4 adjustable legs, reclines and is well padded (second one down):

For a blatant "lafuma type" chair, recliner , footrest, pillow etc and very good quality (and I'm picky) from lilo (theres a name from the past) try Morrisons. They had them in at £43 each and have reduced them steadily, we bought two for £50 last week and they are brilliant. I'll take a pic of ours later if anyone is interested but for now almost identical in appearance :

Only differenc is the cloth is black on ours and theres no wood effect on the arms.
