As we a a large family - 5 young children, have been thinking of getting a sleeping annexe for the awning...who's got experience of these?

Do I have to have a seperate inner tent & groundsheet in this aswell?

Should I go for a 'tall' one?

Do most camps accept them?

Any recommendations welcome!!

Thanks.

The only experience I have of them is sleeping in one in my mum and dads awning. It was sort of a transition period before my sister and I were old enought to fly the nest and have our own tent. I remember that once we had our own tent it was used a a changing room after we had been to the beach or the pool so sand wasn't walked into the caravan. When we left home they still used it as a storage area to keep the awning tidy.

Why can't we live in the tent..?

Hi

I am looking at getting one of these as well.  Friends have both the tall and the sloped version.  You can refix the awning panel afterwards on some so even more privacy and you need a seperate groundsheet - even though they do come with one.

I am looking at getting the tall one so you can stand in it (just) plus for teenagers it gives more room.  Alot of sites charge for the pup tent as well as the awning so we will use the annexe on such sites or if space is a premium or we want more room in the awning for anything.

We've got one and used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We have 2 kids (10 & 2)_ it was brilliant as the oldest used it as his own space & sleep in. Usually we've had a bit of a problem as the little one goes to bed early so older one can't have tv, lights on so this solved it. & we put toys etc in to store & it kept the caravan & awning looking tidiest we've ever had them!!!

I'd say well worth the money!

I always wanted one when we had a caravan. Never got round to getting one , but they are definitely better than hanging an inner tent in the awning. We used to take the inner tent down if it was a rainy day so we could have more space in the awning. we didn't actually spend a lot of the daytime in the van, only really slept in there. We basically lived in the awning, and slept in the van, but we always had loads of kids with us, so needed extra space for them to sleep in the awning.

Go for it, you can get a universal one complete with an inner tent for less than £100 if your awning has a zip out panel all the way round. Upside down U shaped zip , rather than upside down a  J shaped zip as mine had.
