Hi All

Have just purchased an 150W/10A Ring E-Can inverter and a 12.5A Kampa 26L Aqua Super cooler. Obvious problem I have now is how do I power them both at the same time? I've been looking around and most cigarette lighter double adapters top out 10A which won't be enough. Anyone know of an adapter with a 12.5A rating?

Have you had a look on maplins on line? Not sure what they have but they are an electrical bunch so are probably the most likely source?

in car cigarette lighters are 10 amp fused in the main fuse box because of the wire size used,if you increase the amps draw you will blow the fuse,if you increase the fuse rateing the wire could get hot and cause a fire

My car has a 15 amp fuse for the cigarette lighter, however even that is not going to be enough. Best bet might be to get an auto electrician to install a second cigarette lighter socket in the boot of my car.

Usually (but not always) all the wiring is in the car already if a model in your car type has the option, ours has (Zafira) and just needed to buy another lighter socket and relay (£10 and 10 min job, even the bodywork has markings for where it goes, or look at model with feature to see where it goes) and plug it in.

Ours has, factory wiring in place but not fitted to car, (from what I've been told but models differ) Cruise control, lighter, towbar, heated door mirrors, electric windows in rear doors, manufacturers can't afford to make different wiring looms for each car so usually just use one or two different ones and fit extras parts according to model being made.

If you've ever looked at the wiring on your car and wondered what that does (the wires that go nowhere) now you know.

i feel sorry for the battery ,if your drawing all those amps then the battery will only last a couple of hours any more than that and you may not be able to start the car
luckily it has a cut out so you may get 3 hours out of it and inverters are pretty bad converting 12v to 240 and are hardly battery friendly ,find out how much the inverter draws from the batter (rather than the output) and add that to the figures
