Sorry about another cobb questin, but I am trying it out this weekend!

I am hoping to roast a chicken today but the roasting rack does not sit staight in my cobb. Also the juices will go into the heat beads as the gaps are quite wide. So should I be putting the roasting rack over the grill or something else?

all I can do is wish you good luck that you can get the thing hot enough for long enough to roast a sparrow let alone a chicken

Not sure what you're doing wrong reedrider but I've successfully roasted chicken on my Cobb several times and used the residual heat afterwards to cook and upside down sponge pudding too. Small potatoes have roasted well in the trough beneath too.

Tip is you must use 6-8 heatbeads and let them get very hot. Once you put the chicken in, do not remove the lid unless you have to. 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on chicken size. There's also a thread on here somewhere abotu roasting beef.

As for the query about fitting it together, I can't comment without seeing what you're doing I'm afraid.

Make sure the the grill plate is on first and the right way up. With the grooves the right way too so that the fat or juices run down the grooves and drip into the moat. Your roasting rack has four legs under it, put each leg into one of the holes on the grill. It should sit nice n snug now.

Can i add and say the heat beads that are sold for the cobb are no different at all from good quality bbq briquettes. (not the al cheapo ones) I got my Cobb direct from the warehouse, i collected it myself and had  a long chat with the people there and was told the heat beads and the same as good quality briquetts no matter what anyone else tells you. I was given the new cobblestone to try out too Cobblestones and they work fantastico.
