Hi there

Are Cobb still doing special offers for members of this site? I was looking at getting the £140 package and hoping I would still get the griddle, lighter and thermometer free.

probably the only way to get a difinative answer on this one - unless of course Ratty reads this and comes back with a reply

i'm sure you will have as much fun with the cobb as we have had, and still continue to do so

Thought I would post in my existing thread instead of starting yet another "Cobb" thread

We have cooked twice on the cobb now using Easy Lite Heat Beads (the ones with a picture of australia on the packet). The first night was chicken filled with ricotta and spinach and tonight was a stir fry.

I dont know if I have a dodgy bag of beads but I waited the half an hour tonight as suggested before putting the frying dish on and it was only slighty simmering (using 6 beads). After about 20 mins of trying to seal the chicken so added another 4 or 5 beads and waited till they went grey. This made a slight bit of difference but it still took about an hour after they had gone grey to cook the stir fry.

I know you have to wait a while to fully experience the joy of a cobb but to wait an hour and half just for a stir fry that seemed to end up only luke warm anyway seems strange. I guess it doesnt get as hot as the gas hob would when you do a stir fry at home.

Maybe I will try woolies tomorrow to try and get the non easy lite version.

Hi Tigermad, i also had the same problem with 6 heat beads. It barely simmered. I would think 8 beads may do the trick. Just a thought about your beads being slow to ignite. They do absorb damp if you leave them outside or in the shed. Make sure they are sealed up in a plastic bag and kept in a dry place.

After looking at the American Cobb site there is a video clip and it does state when the coals are 30%grey start cooking - that would account for a lot.

Took mine to the beach the other day, had lamb chops and sausages, brilliant, added some more charcoal - only had charcoal, cooked a treat, better tghan the friends disposable bbq, could have been a sales rep!
