I made my own unit, I has full ELCB/RCD protection and 10Amp MCB protection in a small housing (IP 65) made by VOLEX I run 4 x13A sockets again IP65 rating and I have 30mtrs of blue artic grade flex feeding it.
Thats interesting, where do you get the IP56 13A sockets so cheap ?
Cheapest I have seen is around £25 for a double, if your entire EHU cost £40, the IP56 13A sockets must have cost only about £3 or £4 each.
Incidently, did you really mean IP65 13A sockets, most of the ones I have seen are IP56 ?

Yes I meant IP55, and Screwfix direct is my main supplier I use the Clipsal twin gang (x2) which are OK. The MK ones are very expensive, but' as you probably know much better for outside use. Under canvas the Clipsal ones are fine.
Thanks for the info.
I get VAT back so that makes it cheaper for me.
Well most of us cant do that legally, since you cant claim the VAT back unless the purchase was for use by a business. I have a VAT registerd business but I am very careful that I dont reclaim the VAT on private purchases.

could you provide details or instructions on how to make an electic hook up so we can get an electrician friend to make it up
Certainly.
You need an "industrial style" IP44 plug and 16A "exterior grade" cable. The orange stuff which is rated down to freezing point ish is fine.
Then you need an IP55 enclosure which must enclose a 30mA RCD, 16A circuit breaker and IP55 protected sockets.
My personal experience of pricing up the components to make this lot is that it's cheaper to buy the ready-built version - but your friend may have better sources.
