I have a solar charger  i use to keep the battery topped up in my Jeep, it was on a special offer at MAPLINS, it works ace. you don't need a regulator with this panel either. It is only a trickle charger though just to top up what your alarm takes out over long periods.

this one Solar-Powered 12V 1.5W Battery Trickle Charger

Solar-Powered 12V 1.5W Battery Trickle Charger

only £9.99

I also use a me. sized 40watt solar panel to top up my 110Ah Leisure battery while camping and i run loads of stuff from that inc: a fridge/freezer made by Waeco the cf25 and a lcd tv, dvd player, dab radio, LED lighting all my 12 volt stuff and a step down unit that runs 3,6,9 volt stuff too. No EHU needed when we camp.

I hear what jjim is saying but i'm guessing he had a duff one as mine has been going strong for quite some time now. It's only  £10 and it saves my battery draining down and i don't have to take it out anymore to charge it = pain in the butt.  I think even £10 is worth the 6 months of not having to take the battery out for a charge, it should still be under the guarantee, why not take it back if it's not too late now?
