Unlike the old analogue signal, the digital satelite signals shelf out. In other words they go from a good picture to nothing in a degree or so.

The dish must be level. Point it at 152 degree`s and elevate it 28 degrees from horizontal and be patient, t takes a minute or two.

Blimey if your 'round dish on the van' is anything like ours.......NOTHING seems to work even with the booster on

Tbh, I have nooooooo idea why the tin tent manufacturers put those darned things on 'em in the first place coz most peeps end up not using 'em or getting 'em changed for a more superior jobby, (ours appears to be the bog standard Omni Status er...think the number's 315 but I've probably got that allll wrong and can't check at the mo as the tin tent's in storage), or a small SKY dish but that means carting yer SKY box about with ya..

We have, howsomever, found that with an iccle Freeview box, we get a pretty good reception down in deepest darkest Cornwall and until we started using one we'd never had channel 5 on our hols

Hubby's just been making rumblings about getting one of those FREESAT jobbies in the case in Maplins and wanted me to pop on 'ere to ask if they're any good........so far have read a couple of threads about 'em and well peeps.....it aint looking promising

Three weeks and one day till Cornwall...........can't wait!!!!!

Well......it's a sorry tale.....he looked as if he was doomed to be 'binned' by his former owner, (another ukcs pal called Bernie), when he gave me permission to adopt him so long as I gave him a good home....I've done my best

I'm pretty sure that Bernie wouldn't mind if you adopted another clone though, so please feel free to copy him too.

Copying is how most of us gather all our emotidoodahs anyhoo

happy chick, i got one of the 12v freesat boxes from maplins (for when i dont have EHU), it will pick  up loads of channels. channel 5 is still coded so it you cant get that at the moment but all the BBC and ITV channels are ok as with channel 4, and any channel that is uncoded. (it will pick up all the channels but will not decode them) at 39.99 is not a bad price and only uses 12w of power. hopr that helps.

Ohhhhh Lister....the only thing that HAS failed is yer linky thingy to the Argos catalogue effort

I tried to see if your aerial that you stick on yer pole is similar to one of ours, (we have a mini collection as hubby's tended to try a re-vamp MOST years until we got the Freeview box), but only got the sort of home page.

But.....I reckon it's bound to be similar to at least ONE of our many and since taking the Freeview box, we've also been able to LOWER the bl**dy pole by several YARDS!!!!!It just seemed to have another pole added to it year after yearReckon at one point it could've REACHED a bl**dy satellite on it's own it had gotten soooooooo tallSo nice to just be able to have 'normal' looking jobby now thanks to the Freeview Box

One thing I wouldn't recommend though is the Freeview thingy without the box that just plugs straight into the back of the tele & aerial thingy so you haven't got a box or surplus wires lurking about. We've tried one of them too and.....it wasn't ideal at all, either in the tin tent or in our bedroom at home. Yet another waste of moneyHubby thought it would take up less room and be perfick......it weren't

Looks like we'll be sticking with the bog standard Freeview box for our hols again as the feedback about the Freesat in a case jobby aint looking too great. Seems as if most peeps reckon that most of the 200 channels on offer free of charge are mainly shopping channels!!!! Last thing I need to MY hubby to see...not more SHOPPING!!!!

Hi Hippy thought you'd disappeared, how are you,

by the way bought our satelite from Lidl, they can be a bit fiddly when you first use it but you get used it, the main part is look where everyone else has there dish pointing,  think it's astra 28. something, But I sit inside while OH fiddles outside  so I can hear the signal when it's right last time it was used was for the mens singles finals you do get films on the freeview & repeats of soaps etc  we have ours stuck on an old rotary washing line pole --but it is En friendly it's green LOL
