I have just brought a campingaz camping kitchen and looking at the instructions it seems that when using the grill you put some water in the grill tray. Can anyone tell me how much and why you should do this.

 I would also like to know if it possible to buy the the camping kitchen extra bag on its own

Which model have you bought,is the one on legs or just the camping gaz cook with grill.A bit of water in the grill pan will create steam and also collect any fat,residue from your meat.

I used to have one of those when they first come out i had a mark on the metal tray where to put water up to i think it is only to keep it clean cant really see any other purpose for it

We have this one which from your description sounds the same as yours. I think you put water in the tray under the griddle pan to catch and cool the fat that drips through - I was thinking about this on our last trip and came to the conclusion that if you didn't have the water there then the fat would just sit there on the drip tray right next to the burners and get hotter and hotter and would maybe burn or even worse, catch alight.

I just bought a carry bag from here to make it easier to carry which fits perfectly and it going to be great - just need to find something now to keep the legs in/tie them together,
