Received my cobb yesterday and its brilliant. Had a little trouble getting the quick lite heat beads to stay lighted but managed it in the end.
I found a post on here that mentions about the best way to clean the Cobb using vinegar and some cleaning pads from Lakeland. Unfortunately I cant find it now because the search facility never seems to be working on here.
Dont suppose someone kept a copy of the thread anywhere?
Hi, the moat of the Cobb is the most difficult to clean. There are many ways to do this. I use a Brillo pad or a stiff brush.Amazingly the ash from the beads will also do the trick.Do not use any of these abrasives on any other parts of your Cobb.As for fuel I use the ordinary head beads with three firelighters underneath them. If you want a faster start get a barbeque chimney. We use our Cobb on a regular basis at home. It is far cheaper and better than the oven. If the weather is inclement i use it near the open kitchen door. The Cobb is as addictive as this web site.Enjoy.
no point in putting it in the dishwasher either - well the cooking surfaces are ok, but not the lid, base or moat. each and every time i take it out of the dishwasher i remember why i keep telling myself not to put it in. i can really do a much better job by hand in the sink with a scourer.
Like Tallman, we also use ours a lot at home - even had it cooking away in the middle of the sitting room on one rather wet occasion! (yes i did have it outside - under a brolly - to light and only brought it in once it had stopped smoking)

I agree - fairy power spray does the job really well - I love my Cobb - when we are using it camping and I don't feel like cleaning it I just do the plates and wipe the moat out and do it properly when I get home!
I use standard bbq firelighters and standard bbq briquettes on mine with wilkinsons home brand being my favoured.
Cleaning, cheap imitation power spray and cheap smart price brillos for the moat and inside the lid, rest just normal washing up, never bother cleaning the fire basket.
And for the time when I can't be bothered to clean it untill later I keep the plastic charity bags that keep getting pushed through our letter box, the whole caboodle fits in one of them then into the cobb bag until washing up time later
