Well, we're all packed and managed to get all our requirements for a week away in the boot of our car and in a roof box so our car has officially been renamed The Tardis. We're all packed up and ready for the off tomorrow on our inaugural trip to London so if you see some mad woman driving a Ford Maverick with her face pressed up against the windscreen due to having luggage rammed into every crevice with a car that looks like it's fit to burst, honk your horn tee hee hee! The best of it is, that when we go and do the weekly shop at Tescos the boot always seems full then so it's made me realise just how much be actually buy. Does anyone else own a tardis?

I'm another member of the Ford Maverick club! We put chairs, cool box, aquaroll, TV, 5 stone of labrador, etc, etc in ours - and that's as well as the stuff we've packed the van! Tardis is right! I'm sure we don't need half of it but it all comes anyway - just in case.
Enjoy your trip!

When we’re going up a hill of fortune, may we never meet a friend coming down
I know what you mean but when I bought the oven from Lidl I did wonder whether that was gonna be the straw that broke the donkey's back. Now I know I can fit it all in I'm looking a fridges on t'internet! That WILL mean the kids being seriosuly squashed though lol! I suppose cars are like houses, the more room you have the more stuff you find to fill it. Our problem is that we seriously need to sort our garage out to store our camping equipment in or the car will become the shed. Too much stuff, too little time and definitely not enough time spent camping.

we don't have a garage so my little astra van is my shed! :( Although i don't have quite so much stuff in it when i am not actually going camping .
i thought i was going to have to leave my big blue tub trug behind but i managed te wedge it in:)
I agree with Rex , It's pretty depressing looking at a massive heap of tent and camping equipment and a tiny car and roof box , I tend to pack fairly inefficiently on the way out and more efficiently on the way back , especially if traveling to a supply of good wine !!!
i are i remember he good old days when iw as lil off he over packed car. dad used to fill boot up and the entire backseat apart from like 12 inch gap for me to sit in and have someiting on me lap. lol
heaviest stuff in the back of my astra : a trip to scrapyard at cardiff i was able load in 3 centre railway buffers, off old epb stock 1 class 86 drivers seat, and driverss loco door, if i had my roof bars prob more
might astra mighty big and it pulls my archway van no probs !!
I'm taking a day off just to pack the car and make sure I don't forget anything important.
Large saloon car, nothing above parcel shelf. Don't trust the roofrack - though I suspect I'll have a pushbike strapped on the back next year.
When I'm done, there will just be room for me - with all round visibility, and with a bit of luck, the tent will be accessible without having to empty half of the other stuff.
