not sure how bright you want a light, but have you considered a solar powered light?  we have recently bought a solar powered shed light from our local tesco, and it does the job of lighting up the awning rather nicely.  ok so its not bright enough to read by, but will let you see where the glass is to pour the drink into

was gonna post a link to the tesco one, but it seems they no longer do it, there are quite a few about, but as an example this is the one sold by maplin.

Lol, really need it quite bright for reading & playing cards . We've got quite a large living area & i don't like it gloomy .....i think my eyes are going a bit .

The Cybalite wind up lamp from Ring is very good. Light provided by LED's. Two setting but both appear the same to me. Can also be charged through 12 volt. It was a present and I was surprissed how bright it is.

I would have to agree with Tropper. I bought the Cyba-lite Eco-Lantern last year.

It is great. Easy to use, can charge on the way in car plus the light out put is great.

Went to the shop near me where I bought it from recently and noticed a new cyba-lite wind up gizmo called the transformer. Works as a torch, but can also be a lantern. Is wind is well. Looked great.
