I like the idea of these as it means you can get in and out of bed easily but wondered if anyone has bought and what sort of price. I have seen them as cheap as £7.20 but as high as £39.99 even though they appeared identical. Is there a difference?

Probably more to do with the quality of the batteries than anything else as with lanterns generally.

Wireless remote control technology is cheap these days.

I have EHU so will be taking my four wireless control sockets I paid £7 for in Aldi.

I paid £10 for one in Aldi a couple of weeks ago and it came with 2 remotes, although that may have been a packing error. The 20 LEDs don't give that much light and the remote only works from inside the tent so no use for trying to identify which is your tent when stumbling across a dark field.

Well it was a while ago, but you should be able to find similar ones online and get them delivered quickly.
There are firms that specialise in that sort of thing.

B&Q have them - though maybe not such a good deal as the ALDI ones ...

EDIT - Peter45 - not sure what the range is, but I certainly have that in mind.

Maplins have the socket adapters.

A fair bit more expensive - I'll be sure to snap up another pack next time Aldi have them.

hi

we have 2 one from b and q and one from ebay both great but one thing to watch out for is the remote will also turn others lights on and off same applies if a tent near you have one so if your light goes on in the middle of the night dont atomatically think of ghosts

I've been assuming that all wireless devices would use a unique device code ... I've yet to have my doorbell operated by a neighbour

Wireless devices like doorbells use frequencies, not codes
My door bell has a choice of 9 frequencies so you can choose a different one to your neighbour

I have great fun with my remote camping lantern - lend it to someone to take to the loos, then turn it off at an unexpected moment!

I have an outwell 20 led remote control light. The remote control is great when getting in and out of bed to sort the kids out (at least ten times a night).
But it does have quite a harsh blue light.

You can get a remote control dimmer socket on Eb*y that you simply plug a light into. Cost about 12-13 pound inc del.

Hope this may help.

We had a cheap remote control light. Cannot recall where we bought it but £7.99 sticks in my mind. It was brilliant. No worries about fumbling about in a dark tent when returning back late at night etc.

Sadly it almost spontaneously combusted!! Thankfully we were there at the time. It was being recharged when we became aware of a burning smell. Upon lifting it - it was smoking and had melted to the camping table.

Do miss the remote control thing now but I think I will invest in a proper make next time.
