Anything that produces a lot of heat like haidryers or straightners will need an inverter that is high wattage.
Best thing to do is look on the back of the packaging to see what wattage you need.
You can get some quite chunky inverters for all sorts of use. If I was to guess the one you need for a hairdryer would need to be 2000 watts. When they get this big they need to be hot wired to the car battery. Due to being quite specilalised they are not your common in halfords or the like, best bet is to go to a specialised car accessory shop. Can't suggest a brand as never used one.
