I am a cold bunny and like a warm sleeping bag.  Mine is a Pro Action mummy bag bought from Argos last year.  It is really warm and snuggly.  A tip I was given years ago also was NEVER get into a sleeping bag with cold feet.  It stood me in good stead.

The hugo and the romeo ones here are very warm. they are extra wide and extra long , because I don't like the closed in feeling in a mummy bag, and you can also zip them together if you want to use as a double.

Dont get anything rated lower than 350 ,if you are too hot you can always unzip and use it as a quilt but if your cold ,your misserable and it can get very cold in a tent even in summer!

We have Gelert ,bags cant remeber the name tbh but they are fine ,we aso have some pro action mummy bags rated 500 for when we go in autumn/spring

Ahhh but that 350 rating depends on the quality of the filling - I have a Vango 350 that is the same warmth as a different model, but also Vango, 285!  You really need to know comfort ratings...Vango bags are all good value so worth looking at, just know whether you sleep hot or cold and what temps you are happy to sleep in - my bags are rated down to 5 degrees C comfort but I sleep cold early in the night and had a horrible night at 7 degrees...if you are cold before going to bed then have a hot drink and try and get warm before getting in the bag.  Learned from experience!

I have a vango 350 a gelert 350 and 2 gelert 350s that are a different type and have to say they are all of the same thickness

I also have 2 500 proaction that are a LOT warmer and 2 250 vango that you can tell are thinner

I am pretty sure they ratings are an industry set standard

Its related to the weight of the fill - and a better quality fill will weigh less for a given warmth.  Your bags are probably roughly the same quality.  For instance I make my own outdoor clothes and Primaloft comes in different weights.  As down comes in different weights AND different fill power.  My 350 and 285 bags are rated the same - 5 degrees C.  If fill weight was all that was needed they wouldn't have bothered with comfort ratings...

Okay - Vango bags - from their website

Venom 350 rated to 0C

Nitestar 350 rated to +2C

Summit 350 rated to +4C

i dont know what my mummy bag isbut i know they are nice and warm ...... to hot for hubby...... i know they go to -5 and were around 25 pound 4 years ago. unfortunately there in the trailer at the mo ready for the weekend (i think we may need something warm) but when i find out i will let you know. i think if your budget is 25 pound then you will certainly get a good bag

gemini 21 thanks for the tip about socks ....... i do normally wear bed socks (how sexy) cos i get dead bad cold feet but i will make sure i take bed socks now not gust normal socks

hope you get what you want treacle 44 .........clearly lots of choice

We don't use our sleeping bags much any more. We both have a 4-seasons mummy bags but I hated getting wrapped up and twisted in it. These days we use a feather and down quilt. We have a single one underneath us and a double one on top of us. Very warm with no draughts but also without the horrible claustrophobic feeling. Snuggly

I've got an Argos mummy one but it's been too hot to sleep in it on the two trips I've had so I've just used a liner with a blanket over me!

Just bought my (rather large) hubby a Coleman Pacific Maxi Comfort -- after he said he thought his old sleeping bag had shrunk!!!!!! - it is an extra large single sleeping bag - cotton outer with a flannel interior. Looks lovely and cosy.    Only £16.99 from Camping & General.

Another vote for Vango here.  We both have the XL bags (me Astral 350 XL, him Nitestar 300XL)  Lovely and toasty and bags of room!!!  I can't stand Mummy bags and even regular envelope/square bags - far too constricting.
